Wireless Applications

One of the most exciting current technologies is wireless. We have been involved in this area for a
while, most recently contributing several chapters to Palm OS Web Application Developer's Guide.  Send us an email to discuss what's currently being done. The landscape is changing rapidly!

Cool Technologies
  • Ultra Wide Band (UWB)
  • Bluetooth

The FCC adopted a First Report and Order for Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology on February 14, 2002.

This will permit the marketing and operation of certain new product types.

    Mobile Computing

We are also familiar with other mobile technologies.  We have developed supply-chain management software for Symbol SPT devices, using
bar code scanning in web-centric inventory management systems.

    Embedded Systems

We have been involved in several embedded software projects, each consisting of a web-centric architecture.
From vehicle test equipment to embedded web server controllers, we have dealt with several different applications. Of particular interest is our integration experience with WindRiver WindWeb (embedded web server) and Motorola 8260 SBC (single board computer).

Note that we have wirelessly communicated
between a Palm VII and WindWeb!
  • Positioning Systems

In anticipation of developing an *Ultra Wide Band (UWB) positioning system for golf courses, we developed a GPS proof-of-concept.  The GPS system uses a Garmin device, Palm VII,
and Satellite Forms.  Check out Chapter 9 of the
Palm OS Web Application Developer's Guide.

*Time Domain is currently the dominant vendor.

    Wearable Computing

We used Xybernaut wearable computers to develop a prototype web-centric Aviation Maintenance System for
the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  The system was used to deliver web content across a 2.4Ghz wireless LAN, including full-duplex video from Microsoft's NetMeeting. Operators could use the system hands-off, with voice-activated controls from IBM's Via Voice voice recognition software -- a nice feature when your hands are covered with grease!

    Decision Support

Based on our product, the Forms Processing Engine, we developed special, self-populating HTML forms for CIRCOR*.

  • Flow Calculators
  • Product Selection Wizard Index

Choose any wizard and play with the select lists to see how a matrix number is generated.
